A fresh coat of paint is a relatively easy way to update any room.  And a bold pop of color can liven up even the most ho-hum interior.  However, most people hesitate to go bright when it comes to their walls, as picking the right color – or color combinations – can prove overwhelming.  But with no risk, comes no reward.  Getting that right, bold combination can turn your home from drab to fab.

1. Pairing Brights

One bold color can be scary enough, but putting two together – now that’s just crazy! Except when it works.  These bright orange and green rooms look great together and really freshen up the walls of this home.  If you’re thinking about using some bold color combinations, look for colors that are close to each other on a color wheel.  Or, choose opposites to really make those hues pop.

2. Accent Wall

Instead of choosing one bright color, why not opt for a bold, bright print that brings in lots of shades!  This accent wall the clear focal point for the kitchen, however, it really works will with the chairs and accessories that are also in the space since it incorporates all of those colors.  It’s a true compliment to the homeowners decorating style – and really stands out against otherwise neutral walls.

3. Black and White

Black and white is a big color combination for Spring in the fashion world – and it’s breaking into home décor, too!  Who says you can’t go dark on your walls?  We love this look!  And with a large window, and plenty of white accents, it’s far from dreary.  In fact, it’s tres chic!

4. Paint the Ceiling

Who says bright hues belong on the walls only?  That’s one design rule which we think was made to be broken.  Just look at how this painted purple ceiling works to open up a long galley kitchen, that’s otherwise fairly neutral in design.  Those small purple accents work to tie the room together.

5. Accent Pattern

You’ve all heard of an accent wall, but what about an accent pattern?  Rather than opting for one brightly painted wall, do the whole room!  But you can still make one area stand out, by adding a pattern to the wall that you’d like to be the focal point.

6. Painted Cabinets

Ok, so this doesn’t technically count as wall space, but they’re built-in, so we’re adding it to the list!  Break free from the traditional white, oak, or brown kitchen cabinetry by giving outdated cupboards a fresh coat of paint – in color!  Not only will it brighten up your kitchen, it’ll also give the space a more updated look.

A new coat of paint is a great way to add new life to any room of your house.  Don’t be afraid to try a bright new shade the next time you’re thinking about a home makeover.
