This tale is all too familiar: You go on vacation, have a wonderful time, see beautiful things, take plenty of pictures, post them on Facebook for friends and family to ‘Like’ and then never look at them again.  It’s sad really.  You’ve probably got some great art just sitting on your computer waiting to add a little personality to all of that empty wall space.  A photo gallery is the perfect solution!  Of course, there are plenty of ways you can showcase your fabulous photos – and we’re sharing 7 of our favorites.

1. The Photo Shelf:

For those of you who are a little apprehensive about hanging a bunch of photos directly onto your walls, a display shelf is the perfect compromise!  Choose frames of varying sizes and thickness, add your photos, and you’re set to go.  This is also a great option for commitment-phobes, as you can reorder and rework your display as much as you want with minimal effort.

2. The Gallery Look:

Perfectly symmetrical, displaying your photos this way will turn any room in your house into a museum of sorts.  A wonderful way to show off your photography skills, this gallery isn’t too hard to layout either – just keep the spacing equal all around the frames.

3. The Crafty Solution:

This photo wall doesn’t use frames at all – instead, photos have been mod-podged onto painted wooden cuts.  To recreate this look at your home, take a trip to your local craft store to grab some decorative woodcuts and your choice of paint colors.  The little extra effort can save you a lot of money compared to purchasing frames.

4. The Frame Alternative:

This old windowpane makes a beautiful frame, and adds a cozy appeal to your photo display.  If you’re lucky enough to have one of these laying around the house – or find one at your local consignment store – you’ve got a great frame alternative.  Simply paint the frame the color of your choice, and add your photos!

5. The Mixed Bag:

A of mix colors, frames, and photo styles makes this gallery interesting, and probably among the most personal on our list.  We love the painted frames, and variety of photos chosen – though you’ll probably need a good decorative eye (or the help of someone with a strong sense of design) – in order to make this look work.

6. The Clip On:

If you enjoy changing up your photos regularly, this display is a wonderful option.  In fact, you could even use this technique to display children’s artwork, or a combination of your family snaps and your child’s latest masterpieces.  Since it’s so easy to switch up your display, you can really play around with different ideas to find what you like best.

7. The Gold Star:

A look like this can be hard to achieve, but when all of the pieces come together it really is a design masterpiece.  The varying mirrors and frames give this photo gallery a more thrown together look than some of the more symmetrical layouts – however, the similar colors the styles of all of the frames and photos still give quite a cohesive look.  Bonus points for incorporating the gold into one of the throw pillows, too.
