There are few seating options for around your home that are as versatile as bar stools. While traditionally they were used in your home bar or as the seating around the island in your kitchen there are many ways that you can use bar stools to your home to create interesting spaces or add additional seating in smaller spaces. With a variety of looks and styles to choose from we thought we’d put together a list of 7 creative ways to use bar stools in your home to help get your creative juices flowing.

1. Adding A Seating Area To Your Family Room

Sometimes you just want to watch some TV and have dinner at the same time. Instead of cradling that plate on your knees why not create a little seating area with bar stool seating to give yourself a comfortable place to eat (without spilling on yourself), watch some TV and enjoy some down time. Ikea has some nice minimalist desk options that can fit into many family rooms and then find some barstools for seating so you don’t give up too much space.

2. The Nook With a View

For many people living in the city having a small living space is a part of life and sometimes the best views are from a small window located in an off space in your home. Adding a small ledge and seating area to a window with a view and using some bar stool seating is a great way to add a nice place to have a coffee and take in the views outside. Or if you just want a place to get some natural light while reading or working from home you can create a little extra space by using bar stool seating.

3. Kids Craft Space

Sometimes it can be difficult to make space for the little ones to do crafts, drawings or color while still keeping your home nice for having other adults over. It can also be difficult to keep the little ones creativity confined to a manageable space. To help solve this problem a small kids size desk with bar stool seating can be added to almost any room in your home.

4. Unique Man Cave Bar Stools

While having bar stools at a home bar or on the back side of kitchen island is anything but unique we thought these bar stools were more than unique enough to make our list. Made from tree trunks with branches left on to be used as the legs and a unique seat cover finish that makes them look like something out of a Mario game these bar stools are definitely unique. So if you want to do the traditional man cave with bar stools but still want to stand out, picking bar stools unique to you and your personal taste goes a long way.

5. Bar Stool as a Side Table

Who said you always had to sit on bar stools anyway. As bar stools come in a variety of heights, colors, and shapes using a bar stool as a side table can be a great way to add a unique element to your room at a low cost. We love the use of the Ikea Dalfred bar stool in this room. It is the perfect height to go beside the sofa and sturdy enough to hold a drink, book or both.

Summary

These are just a sample of what you can do with bar stools around your home. Hopefully they have inspired you to take another look at the lowly bar stool and how to incorporate it into your next room redesign!
